This Week in College Admissions – 04/01/2022

Published on: April 1, 2022

A short but important update this week, including some surprising test-optional news, an email mistake, name changes, leadership positions, and admissions trends for the 2022 admissions cycle.

In perhaps a sign of things to come, MIT announced that test scores will be required for students applying next cycle. The move has made MIT the recipient of both criticism and praise.

The University of Richmond will be changing the names of multiple buildings on campus due to associations with slavery and racism.

Claremont McKenna College mistakenly sent a scholarship acceptance email to hundreds of potential students incorrectly telling them they were the recipients of $10,000 and a $5,000 summer experience award.

Washington University in St. Louis announced this week that women make up a majority of the Chancellor’s cabinet and more than half of the university leadership council. Recent data shows that women still make up a minority of leadership positions at universities around the country.

Our own students and students around the country are receiving admissions decisions this week, and we wish everyone good luck! For a deeper look at this year’s admissions statistics, check out our recent blog post highlighting some trends.
