This week, Georgia public colleges announced the return of the standardized testing requirement, we learned how current high school juniors feel about the college search process, college athletes got some news from the NCAA, and we got an update on waitlist movement (or lack thereof).
In testing news, public colleges in the state of Georgia will require submission of SAT or ACT scores next year. In addition, the May 8 administration of the SAT was cancelled in many countries due to a post on Reddit announcing that the test had been leaked.
A survey of over 7,000 high school juniors revealed that 66% of students prefer in-person campus visits (see our list of schools offering them!). Meanwhile, 84% of students said they most want to see classrooms on colleges’ social media accounts, followed by campus life (83%).
Florida and four other states have approved laws that will pay college athletes. The NCAA is now looking to extend these rights to college athletes across the country as other states and schools are anxious about losing recruits.
And a small heads up on waitlists… In webinars with counselors this week, BU, Tufts, Northeastern, and WashU all shared that their incoming classes are robust and there are no current plans to go to their waitlists.
