Dr. Bari Norman is the co-founder and head counselor at Expert Admissions, an admissions advisory firm based in New York, where she leads a team of former admissions officers from the nation’s most prestigious universities. Dr. Norman received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and her AB, magna cum laude, from Barnard College of Columbia University.
For more than 20 years, families, high schools, and professionals have sought her honesty and expertise to best leverage students’ authentic experiences and strengths in the increasingly complex and competitive college admissions process.
Dr. Norman was an admissions officer at Barnard College/Columbia University, and she has been featured by virtually every major media outlet, including the TODAY Show, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, CNN, and others. She is a sought-after speaker on the complexities and nuances of the admissions process, regularly invited to address organizations and groups nationwide.
At the University of Pennsylvania Dr. Norman was an undergraduate instructor and academic advisor, as well as a member of the Secondary Schools Committee. Additionally, Dr. Norman served as the Director of Pre-College Programs and Chair of Pre-College Admissions and Financial Aid at Barnard. She also served as a curriculum consultant at New York University.
Dr. Norman is a board member and served on the faculty for the University of California – Irvine’s Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program and was the Past-Chair of the College Committee for the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). She is a member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), and the International Association for College Admission Counseling (International ACAC).
