This week, more schools required Covid vaccinations for the fall semester, a couple of schools made some big mistakes, and the NCAA announced updated policies.
A new survey indicates that a majority of prospective students and their families are open to vaccine requirements at colleges. You can keep track of which schools are requiring vaccinations for the fall semester on our blog.
Colleges play a big part in the effort to get people across the country vaccinated. In Pennsylvania, the governor just announced that all current college students in the state should be able to get vaccinated before the end of the semester.
It happens every year…and this year it happened at the University of Kentucky, where they accidentally admitted more than 500,000 students to a very small, selective program that normally accepts just 35 – 40 students. Some of the students hadn’t even applied.
Meanwhile, the University of Notre Dame Law School emailed admitted students, urging them to put a deposit down before spots ran out because they were getting close to reaching the class’s capacity (they had over-admitted). The Law School told students that once the spots were filled they would move any remaining admitted students to the waitlist. Those who were able to rushed to make the $600 deposit, and available slots were filled in a matter of hours.
In some good news, the NCAAis expected to announce that it plans to eliminate a rule that requires some Division I college athletes to sit out a season after transferring to another institution. The NCAA also announced that for the Class of 2022 tests would remain optional for Division I and Division II initial-eligibility. Play on!
