There’s some more test-optional news this week, and fall plans continue to evolve as many colleges near their opening days for first-year students.
The University of North Carolina, University of Tampa, University of Tennesse-Knoxville, and UMass-Amherst all announced test-optional policies.
The reversal of last week’s ICE ruling reverted to an old policy that protected some international students but not others: the old policy did not include first-time students. As a result, Harvard and USC told their incoming first-year international students who are not already in the US to stay home.
ACT registration will open next week (Week of July 27). While the exact date and time have not yet been announced, you can register for an update directly from ACT here. And if you’re registering for the first time, be sure to create an ACT account now…before it’s time to register!
Meanwhile, colleges are trying to figure out how to recruit and assess applicants during the upcoming cycle, when students can’t visit campuses and admissions reps won’t be able to visit high schools.
To help students navigate the college search when in-person visits and discussions aren’t possible, NACAC will hold all of their college fairs virtually this fall.
With many colleges starting to welcome first-year students in August, the fall semester is already upon us. Some colleges are only allowing certain students back on campus for Fall 2020. How are they deciding who gets to be there in-person? And is it safe?
