From a whole new world of college sports to the new rules of on-campus socializing, college admissions news largely focused on policies relating to Fall 2020 this week. And keeping the test-optional news going, MIT is now added to the list.
In application news, MIT suspended its SAT/ACT testing requirement for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle and Johns Hopkins added Early Decision 2. Meanwhile, ACT postponed all fall online testing.
ICE reversed its ruling barring international students from staying in the US if their colleges went completely online due to the pandemic.
The Big 10 and PAC-10 will limit their fall sports schedules to conference-only teams and NESCAC canceled all fall sports.
Colleges lay out their policies for socializing and gathering (including potential disciplinary action). And in hopes of preserving an in-person fall semester, Tulane’s dean sent a stern letter to students warning of suspension or expulsion for hosting gatherings of more than 15 people. This was after photos surfaced online of students hosting large parties and violating social distancing requirements.
