Expert Admissions’ Summer Writing Program 2022

Published on: April 20, 2022

Expert Admissions’ writing specialists are committed to helping students with their writing, even before college applications enter the picture. We’ve taught writing at the high school and college levels and know where students struggle. From “close reading” to thesis statements to revisions, we demystify the writing process. We empower our students to reflect on their own process so they can continue to grow as writers in high school, college, and beyond. Our new summer writing program is designed from years of experience and training in how students benefit from both individualized instruction and peer feedback. Keep reading for our brief overview of the course, and don’t hesitate to contact us for more information!

Two-Week Summer Writing Program

Course description: This intensive group workshop is designed to teach students the skills and confidence to write compelling academic papers. Students work in small groups and one-on-one with Expert Admissions writing specialists to develop their own writing process and craft a short original essay from start to finish. Between sessions, one of our writing specialists will provide additional personalized feedback on written work to ensure each student’s steady progress.

Student Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, students will be able to describe the stages of the writing process and develop an individualized writing process tailored to their learning style; analyze source texts in detail; construct a compelling thesis statement; structure a paper for effective argumentation; identify audience and determine the audience’s needs and expectations; appraise and revise their own work.

The course meets on Mondays and Fridays, allowing students time to write, revise, and receive feedback in between sessions.
