ACT Woes, UW-Madison Suspends Testing Requirement, and Covid on Campus

Published on: July 31, 2020

The big news this week was ACT registration (or lack thereof), in addition to some announcements relating to Fall 2020 reopenings.

ACT’s system crashed on Monday, leaving thousands of students without a test date for fall (at least for now). In response to the system overload, ACT shut down registration and announced that it’ll open up again on Monday at 10:00 AM CST. Set your alarms…and take a deep breath!

Meanwhile, July ACT scores will be released starting August 5 and Class of 2021 seniors impacted by summer cancelations or closures should be receiving an email “this week” about an expedited registration process.

In other testing news, the University of Wisconsin-Madison announced they’ll be test-optional this fall.

GW changed their fall plans and announced a fully remote fall semester, along with a tuition discount of 10 percent.

So far, there are 6600+ Covid cases that have been traced to US colleges. Amongst them is a 40-person outbreak on USC’s fraternity row that now seems to be under control.
